How To Plan A Holiday Party
Holiday Party Planning Done Right
As we approach the vacation season, usually awash with holiday parties, it got me thinking about how staff are rewarded. Actually one of the chief reasons for hosting a company vacation party is to reward staff for their difficult work and dedication, and there could be finance reasons as well.  ;
however , a vacation party does something else too. It creates a space for workers and management to get together not as workers, but as friends. It offers a chance for people to get together and enjoy the company of the people you’re employed with without being concerned about the base line, which is something that won’t happen much across the year. Sure there might be fiscal benefits ( see the article linked above ), but this is essentially achieved by creating a touch of goodwill that goes a long way. It lets your employees know that you value them and their work. So when I see that corporations are deciding against doing a party because of the economy I fret about the message that this sends to  ; workers, plenty of whom doubtless look forward to and expect some kind of year end celebration. When times are difficult, which undoubtedly is the case in several industries, it’s particularly crucial to show workers you care.
If you typically do an extravagant celebration, of course it’s understandable that you’d cut back a touch, but do not lose the party altogether. Do it smaller, simpler and smarter. You can change the scale without destroying the event. If you usually hire a star comedian, for instance, think about employing talent locally. If you usually do an extravagant meal, do a buffet, or a potluck. My point is do something. If you can afford to use holiday party entertainment, I’d definitely recommend it. Using a corporate comedian is a great way to get people’s’s minds off the economy for 45-60 mins and it gives your visitors a typical experience to chat ( and joke ) about for approaching months and leaves everybody feeling a little better ( nicely timed for the vacations ).
